You're ready to make Big Moves.
Don't let legal kill your momentum.
Attorney for Nonprofits
Building a Stronger Nonprofit Starts Here.
Your organization has a vision for the future. You’re strengthening your board, pursuing new funding opportunities, and expanding your impact.
With growth come new opportunities and new responsibilities: contracts, grant compliance, governance, IRS reporting, employment matters, and the countless legal decisions that shape your organization’s future.
The right legal foundation allows you to build a stronger, more resilient organization that’s prepared for what’s next.
I’d be honored to help you get there.
Personal Mentions:
I'm Ann Porter, and I help nonprofits and their partners build stronger foundations.
I’m an attorney, former General Counsel of a global nonprofit, and the founder of Porter Legal and 501(c)onfident™.
Before founding my practice, I spent years advising clients at leading international law firms and the U.S. Department of Justice. But the experience that most shapes how I serve nonprofits today came from leading legal strategy from within one.
There’s a world of difference between advising a nonprofit from the outside and helping lead one from the inside. Having done both, I understand not only the legal questions nonprofit leaders face, but also the practical realities behind them.
Today, I work exclusively with nonprofits and the people who support them—including consultants, funders, and companies expanding their charitable impact. That singular focus allows me to provide legal guidance grounded in the unique opportunities and challenges of the nonprofit sector.
Over more than a decade of practice, I’ve advised organizations operating across more than a dozen countries and supported the deployment of more than half a billion dollars in charitable funding.
Strong legal foundations don’t just reduce risk—they create the stability organizations need to grow, earn trust, and advance their missions.
That’s the work I’m honored to do every day.
Let's make sure nothing gets in the way of it.
